The Bogong Power Development Project, awarded to McConnell Dowell as a design and construct (D&C) contract by AGL Southern Hydro, is the largest hydro power project constructed in Australia in 25 years. It consists of a network of tunnels and shafts and the construction of a new underground hydro electric power station in a picturesque national park near the Victorian ski fields at Falls Creek. The power station forms part of AGL Southern Hydro’s strategic energy framework for the supply of green peak demand power. It will harness the Rocky Valley and Pretty Valley branches of the East Kiewa River and existing water resources released from the Mackay Creek Power Read more
The Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure of South Australia (DTEI) awarded McConnell Dowell an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for the replacement of the dilapidated Bakewell Bridge with an underpass in Adelaide, South Australia. Used by 25,000 cars per day, the 80 year old bridge formed a vital arterial into Adelaide's CBD. Working with DTEI on South Australia's first ECI project, the team developed and assessed a number of configurations to find a solution that best balanced community, technical and cost parameters.  The selected option includes two traffic lanes in each direction separated by a median; on-road bicycle lanes on each side of the road; and a wide shared-use path Read more
The Helios Bulk Liquid Storage and Blending Facility job was completed ahead of time, and with its first-class safety performance, was awarded the “Singapore Safety and Health Award” in  2008. McConnell Dowell was awarded the mechanical and civil works contract in May of 2006 by Helios Terminals Corporation. The project is based on Jurong Island, Singapore which has been a happy hunting ground for the company over the last 30 years. McConnell Dowell constructed tank foundations, pipe racks, bund walls, valve and pump manifold, piping, loading arms, jetty topsides, all electrical and instrumentation, and other facilities including offices. 21 liquid storage tanks are included in the facility with a capacity of 448,000m3.
