Helios Terminals Corporation awarded McConnell Dowell an engineer, procure and construct (EPC) contract for mechanical and civil works associated with their new liquid storage and blending facility on Jurong Island. MacDow procured and constructed tank foundations; pipe racks; bund walls; valve and pump manifold; piping; loading arms; jetty topsides; and other facilities including offices.
Bulk fuel suppliers are constantly looking for additional tank capacity for storage, blending and distribution, and Helios' new facility aims to meet this increasing market demand. The facility includes 21 liquid storage tanks with a capacity of 448,000 m3 constructed on four major jetty platforms.
All structural steel and large bore pipe spools were fabricated at MacDow's fabrication facility in Batam. The balance of pipe spools were fabricated in the on-site workshop.
MacDow's highly motivated project team of locals and expatriates completed the project on time and on budget. In recognition of the excellent safety performance, the project won the Singapore Safety and Health Award 2008.
