The company is pleased to announce that the Pinkenba Malting Project in Queensland has reached 200,000 man hours with no lost time injuries. The malting facility is being constructed on a complex mechanical project site utilising numerous subcontractors where effective communication is pivotal to good safety outcomes. The company is pleased to announce that the team working on the IRPC Natural Gas Pipeline Project has achieved 500,000 man-hours without an LTI. Safe work practices implemented on the project have been focused on the key risks which include overhead power cables, buried services and traffic control. Sheet piling has been used extensively to support trenches in soft ground and provide stability for the buried parallel water mains. Directional drilling has been used extensively where the proximity of existing water pipelines would not permit the safe excavation of trenches. The Company is pleased to advise that PT McConnell Dowell Services has been awarded the Koniambo Bag House Assembly works for Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS). The scope of work includes load in of free issued client equipment, fabrication of temporary transportation steelwork, and the assembly of the coal bag filters at our Batam facility. The three main items; raw bag house (150 t), bag house filter (25 t), and silo bag filter (10 t) will then be loaded out to barge for transportation to New Caledonia with the necessary sea fastening. The Company is very pleased to announce that the PARs project in Singapore has achieved 3 million man hours without a Lost Time Injury. The scope of works includes the erection of 7,000 Ton of structural steel and installation of 156,000m of pipe work. 130 pipe rack modules manufactured in our Batam yard have also been installed on site. The Company is pleased to advise that the McMahon Leighton joint venture has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd a flashbutt welding subcontract on their BHP Billiton Rapid Growth Project 5 (RGP5) Rail Infrastructure Project at Port Hedland, Western Australia. RGP5 rail is a project to duplicate 220km of existing heavy haul line between Port Hedland and shaw Siding on the Newman/Yandi Line in the Pilbara region. MacDow will supply a 2 man crew and our specialist flashbutt welder to assist in the final stages of the project. The Company is pleased to advise that ASL Marine Holdings has awarded PT McConnell Dowell Services a contract for the design and construction of a 150 m jetty, a layby berth and associated dolphins at their Batam shipyard. The Company is pleased to announce that JTC Corporation has awarded McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the diversion of the existing 48” submarine oil pipeline at Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong Island. Due to land reclamation works within the Ayer Chawan basin, the existing submarine 48” pipeline, which was installed by McConnell Dowell in 1980 needs to be replaced by a new approx 1km land 50” pipeline. Once the new 50” pipeline has been fully constructed and tested the hot tapping works will commence to divert the oil into the new pipeline, thereby ensuring no stoppage of oil delivery to the refinery. The Company is pleased to advise that the Dutco McConnell Dowell Middle East team working on the Dubai Supply Authority DUSUP Project has achieved one million man-hours without an LTI. The site team has worked diligently to raise safety awareness and safe work behaviours on the project and consistently achieved all the targets set. The Company is pleased to announce that VicRoads has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd the construction contract for the Breakwater Road Redevelopment project. Breakwater Road is an essential crossing of the Barwon River, carrying around 20,000 vehicles each day. The existing bridge is in a flood plain and when it rains heavily it has to be closed down, forcing traffic through the centre of Geelong and causing delays for drivers. There is also a height restriction with the current intersection which means trucks bigger than 3.7 metres can’t fit under the Melbourne-Warrnambool rail bridge. The Company is pleased to advise that the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (MBSIR) Project in Singapore achieved 1,250,000 man-hours LTI free on Saturday, 21 August. This new safety milestone was achieved just under three months after achieving one million man-hours LTI Free and culminates with the completion of the technically difficult and accelerated Crystal Pavilions RC Work on site.
