The Company is pleased to advise that The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Aust Pty Ltd the design and construct, and the operate and maintain contracts for the Adelaide Living Beaches Sand Transfer Infrastructure project in Adelaide SA.
The scope of work includes the design and construction of:
- 9km of DN315 HDPE slurry delivery pipework;
- Five slurry pumping stations;
- 3.7km of DN400 seawater supply pipework; and
- Two sea water supply pump platforms.
The operate and maintain contract involves winning beach sand from two locations and pumping through the system for discharge at 16 locations along the metropolitan coast line over a 20 year period.
Design work commences immediately with construction due to commence in January 2012 and scheduled for completion in October 2012.
