The Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure of South Australia (DTEI) awarded McConnell Dowell an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for the replacement of the dilapidated Bakewell Bridge with an underpass in Adelaide, South Australia. Used by 25,000 cars per day, the 80 year old bridge formed a vital arterial into Adelaide's CBD. The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sentosa Bridge project in Singapore for Resorts World at Sentosa on time and on budget. The design and construct project was for a new 380m segmentally launched road bridge to travel to and from Singapore to Sentosa Island. Key to completing the project in such a short construction period was the maximisation of precast concrete elements and the modularisation of the steel truss bridges at the Company’s Batam fabrication facility. The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd has been confirmed as the preferred tenderer for the Waitaki Bridges Replacement Project for the New Zealand Transport Agency. This project is to be delivered as an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract. The contract is divided into two separable portions, SP2 and SP3. SP2 will involve preparation of a specimen design, negotiation of commercial terms (including price) and contract duration. SP3 involves the completion of the detailed design and physical works. The Barwon Heads Bridge, at the mouth of Barwon River, is an essential link in the road network of the Bellarine Peninsula. The existing road bridge, originally built in 1927, is rapidly reaching the end of its operational life. The results of a 2006 bridge inspection gave the bridge four to six more working years. The inspection identified extensive deterioration of the concrete deck, rotting and splitting of timber, rotting and cracking of piles, walers and cross-bracing and rusting and pitting of the steel beams. The Company is pleased to advise that Ontrack has awarded McConnell Dowell the Bridge 298 contract.   The scope of work is for the construction of a new 150m long railway bridge over the Whangamarino River at Mercer, 30km south of Auckland. The bridge forms part of North Island Main Trunk rail network. Works include the approaches either side of the bridge which involve substantial earthworks, services relocation, river protection works and the removal of the existing rail bridge.
