The Company is pleased to advise that Towngas has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Hong Kong Ltd, in joint venture with Kaden Construction Ltd, a contract for the installation of submarine gas pipelines and associated facilities from To Kwa Wan to North Point in Hong Kong.  The scope of work involves: Laying of twin 450 mm diameter submarine gas pipelines across Victoria Harbour – approximately 3.2 km. The Dampier Bunbury Pipeline (DBP) awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) Stage 5B Looping contract in Western Australia. The project includes 440 km of 26” pipeline construction looping the existing DBNGP pipeline spread from Loop 0 near Karratha to Loop 10 east of Bunbury, W.A. This is carried out in eleven separate loops. The initial two loops to be constructed (Loops 9 and 10) are adjacent to and North East and South of Perth respectively. North Shore City Council awarded McConnell Dowell a design and construction contract for the new Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Project in New Zealand. The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works at Tanjung Priok, Indonesia on 14 February 2009 for PT Jakarta Tanker Terminal, a joint venture between Vopak and AKR. During the 11-hour pull back operation a 552 m long, 363 t pipe bundle consisting of nine steel and HDPE pipes ranging in diameter from 6 to 16 inches was pulled approximately 31 m below the sea bed. The Tahuna Ocean Outfall project in Dunedin, New Zealand was awarded the New Zealand Constructors Federation Award in Category 5 – projects exceeding $20 million – on Friday, 14th of August.The annual awards, which are open to all members of the New Zealand Contractors’ Federation, cover major civil engineering, construction and general contracting projects completed during the past year with judges paying specific attention to excellence in planning, control and quality by project teams.The project, which was completed in May 2009, included construction of a 510 m long tunnel from Tahuna Waste Water Treatment plant 250 m offshore beyond the surf zone.
