The company is please to announce the excellent safety milestone of Electrix Central Queensland on their Ergon Asset Inspection contracts, recently achieving three years without a Lost Time Injury. Working for Ergon Energy, Electrix conducts inspections of their overhead and underground network on a four year cycle, at around an average of 85,000 poles per year. Covering an area from Bowen and Airlie Beach (North Queensland) to Gin Gin and Bundaberg (South Queensland) and as far west as Birdsville and Longreach. The Company is pleased to announce that McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd, as a part of the Northern Network Alliance (NNA), has laid the last pipe of the 48 kilometre Northern Pipeline Interconnector (NPI) – Stage 2 project. In another great milestone, the NNA Pipeline project has also just completed 500,000 man-hours LTI free, an exceptional safety achievement indicative of the dedication, planning and management of the project team to deliver this project safely. The company is pleased to advise that the C916 Station at Beauty World and Tunnels project has achieved 1,500,000 Man Hours LTI Free. This is a very significant achievement for the project, especially considering the ongoing piling work in restricted work space areas. Despite these constraints, the safe execution of works has been managed extremely well by McConnell Dowell site personnel, and also our sub-contractors. The FAST JV has awarded the first of their Monthly Safety Awards to McConnell Dowell. The Safety Awards take into account all contractors working on RGP 5 (Rapid Growth Project 5 Marine Works) Port Development works for BHP Billiton Iron Ore. The safety crew flag was presented by Steve Carter, Marine Superintendent FAST JV to Hale Bray, Safety Representative and the Temporary Construction Load Out Facility work group (TCLOF). We are pleased to advise that our team on the IRF project in Singapore have been awarded “Contractor of the Month” by Client ExxonMobil in recognition of our exceptional safety performance on the project during the month of July. ExxonMobil assess their contractors’ safety performance on a wide range of criteria including site compliance, management commitment to safety, safety incentives and promotions as well as participation in ExxonMobil’s own safety program ‘CORE’. As of end July 2009 our “Mod Squad” team at LXML, Sepon mine, Lao PDR passed 300,000 man hours without a LTI.  This achievement is even more impressive in that it has taken 50 months to reach and the work they have undertaken is generally modification and shutdown work to a live operating plant.Surpassing this milestone is testament to the positive team approach to safety and risk management. The Company is pleased to announce that the team at the Ambuklao and Binga Hydropower Plants Rehabilitation project in the Philippines have achieved 1,000,000 man hours LTI free. The Company is pleased to announce that the team on the Beauty World Station Project have achieved 100,000 man hours LTI free. Design and construction of the new underground station began in March this year and the works include design and construction of two MRT tunnels, 1,100 m bored tunnels with an internal diameter of 5.8 m, two cross passages and 135 m of cut and cover tunnels.
